Foster + Partners is best known for its architecture, but the British firm recently created an impressive animated vision for a new type of shipping infrastructure that uses Elon Musk’s Hyperloop concept to deliver packages through tubes at 700 miles per hour. The idea? Use the Hyperloop to transform the shipping industry. The concept is called DP World Cargospeed (the team’s naming skills are inversely proportional to their engineering acumen), and it was designed in collaboration with DP World, a Dubai-based administrator of shipping seaports around the world, and Virgin Hyperloop, Sir Richard Branson’s new transportation company based on the original Hyperloop plans.
