The way this message board looks is simple and plain and the reason for that is this is the default style issued by phpBB. Staying with the default style makes updating the board much simpler and less time consuming, as I don't have to disable a lot of things in order to update. That very issue might have been one of the problems with updating the board last January. Also, some Extensions change some of the core coding of the board and when that occurs updates become far more difficult and more problematic. I can't say for sure what specifically happened last January as I was not involved and I've been out of the loop for more than a year.

So unless I get a massive call for a style change the board is going to remain Plain Jane (default style).
